Hotel Casa Virreyes

The location was the one good thing about this hotel. Our room was basically a basement beside the kitchen, so we heard noise throughout the stay, especially early in the morning. At night, we found a cockroach on the sink. The bed linen and covers were pretty filthy too.

Everything was clean, including the rooms, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. David in the restaurant gave great service. The hotel is in the center of Guanajuato, with all the attractions within walking distance. The mattresses were hard, though. Just got back from visiting, and I'd give it 9 out of 10!

The hotel is right in the heart of the city, and you can't beat the location. My room looked out toward the church, so be prepared for the church bells if you like that sort of thing, otherwise it may be a bit loud. The staff were friendly, professional, and attentive. The room was spacious, but both the mattress and pillows were extra firm. A 1 pm checkout was nice, since there was no need to rush. I had a good experience overall.

It's a basic hotel, so don't expect luxury. Most rooms don't have windows facing outside. We upgraded to a suite, where we could hear cars and music from the plaza, but that didn't bother me. The location is hard to beat.
