Hotel Antiguo Vapor

We spent four nights here and would happily return. Our room faced the courtyard, so it stayed fairly quiet for a central hotel, though church bells, traffic, and a nightly callejoneada serenade are part of the soundscape. We could walk to restaurants, shops, the central zone, and historic sights. The whole place was clean and beautiful, and the staff were lovely and helpful. They arranged transport and gave us great restaurant and tour suggestions. Thanks to Ricardo and the kind employees of Hotel Antigua Vapor!

We paid close to 600 USD for two nights, and it wasn't worth it. We had booked the best room with a spa tub, but the hotel had forgotten to switch on the water boiler. There was no hot water on our first night, so we couldn't use the tub or even shower. After I asked them to fix it, it took about an hour and a half for some warm water to start coming through. It still wasn't warm enough to shower that night. The hotel didn't offer compensation at the time, and the wine wasn't offered until after 10:30 PM, when we'd already waited. Staff also don't speak English.

The Paloma room's bathroom was a highlight, with hand-painted tiles and a small spa tub. We also loved how close the hotel is to plazas and museums. We stayed two nights and three days, and everyone on staff was so friendly and made us feel welcome. My kids had fun watching the Mariachi's sing in the streets from our balcony.

The rooms are clean, large, and have a rustic feel, and the shower had good pressure and hot water. Wi-Fi worked well, and there was a nice little juilette balcony. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was just right. The bed felt too small for such a big room, so I'd pay to upgrade to a more comfortable king for a longer stay. For a few nights it was fine, and I'd stay again.
