Luna Hotel

The staff were polite, but sleeping was impossible. At around 10:00 p.m., the night manager let some guests bring a musical group into the hotel, followed by a mariachi band that played until 2:00 a.m. The music was unbelievably loud. I spoke to the manager around 1:00 a.m., and they said it would keep playing for a while. I took videos around then because it was too loud even in our room, and the chandelier was vibrating. The beds were hard and uncomfortable, and the shower leaked onto the toilet and sink area, so our feet got soaked whenever we went to the restroom.

There was live music in the park right outside the door the whole time, yet the rooms stayed quiet. Breakfast was included, with six options to choose from, and there are lots of art pieces all through the hotel. It’s a nice place right in the middle of the action. Better lighting in the room and bathroom would be appreciated.

There’s no parking onsite, and public parking is a long walk away, so keep that in mind if you have small children. We had a reservation, but they gave our room to a large group that had no reservations and took more than three rooms. They spent 20 minutes checking in, and based on their conversation, I strongly suspect Luis at the front desk gave them our room. We got a terrible downgraded room with no toilet paper, too few towels, and an extremely small bathroom. Breakfast wasn’t good either, though luckily we didn’t pay extra for it.

From the balcony rooms you get a beautiful view, though outdoor music may be a problem if you’re a light sleeper. Breakfast was complimentary and very good. The hotel is right in central Guanajuato city, within walking distance of most attractions, even the mummies. I’d definitely come back.
