The guided tour is well worth taking if you want to hear the fascinating history of the place. Breakfast was great, and the staff helped us get our bags to the rooms. From check-in onward, it all felt absolutely charming.

The rooms were just okay compared with the rest of the spectacular hacienda, which we loved exploring. There’s a pool, waterfall, kiss bridge, gardens, and plenty more to see. WiFi only reaches the restaurant and areas near reception, not the rooms. We also took the on-site legend tour. The story itself wasn’t especially interesting, but the rooms and places included in the visit made it worth the price.

Breakfast was a highlight: butterflies flying by, the waterfall in view, and a truly breathtaking setting. We also enjoyed the meals, even though the menu is fairly limited. Service was impeccable, and our waitress was attentive and sweet despite my family’s very broken Spanish. We booked both a regular double room and the Cleopatra suite, and loved them. The property is gorgeous with lots to explore. The pool isn’t heated, but it’s fine for a dip or for kids to play in the shallow section. We spent a lovely afternoon there in September. A stay we’ll remember, and we’ll definitely come back.

We only came for a visit, but the catacombs were the most interesting part for me. The historic hacienda was built with wealth from mining and sprawls across a valley, with lovely views and several water features. It’s one of the more stunning places I’ve seen in Mexico, and I highly recommend visiting.

The grounds are fantastic, and the restaurant is very nice. They have guided tours every day at 2pm. The presentation of the hacienda’s history is quite theatrical, though it can get pretty wordy for tourists. It’s a wonderful example of a hacienda from the period when the Spaniards established a strong presence to mine, extract, process, and export silver to Spain.
