Holiday Inn Huatulco

The room was spacious, and the large bed was comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job, though I found it unnecessary that they brought fresh towels every day even when we hung ours on the rack as instructed. The hotel presents itself as sustainable, but the towel practice didn’t feel that way. Wi-Fi was the worst I’ve ever had, worse than on remote islands. It failed half the time, so I spent a lot on mobile data, and streaming on the smart TV through Netflix and other services didn’t work either. The location was good, with the main beach close by and other beaches a short taxi ride away. It’s also a quick taxi ride to Pa Crucecita. My balcony faced the marina, which was a nice view, though loud music from the boats was common. The pool layout made me feel trapped in a cage. I didn’t try the restaurant. The coffee shop was nice to have, but I don’t understand why it’s Starbucks when Mexico has such good local coffee. I also don’t know why a spacious room doesn’t have even a small fridge. Pretty average overall.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, and I’d recommend the hotel for that and its amenities. Check-in was especially good, with staff who were friendly and efficient. Checkout was a different story, as the staff on duty then seemed quite unfriendly. A heads-up for the dayshift team.

The view is great and the location is good. The breakfast buffet was good too, but other meals didn’t arrive as ordered, so take the short walk to the beach and eat there. Some staff were great, while others could use more customer service training.

We’ve eaten at the Jaguar restaurant several times. We didn’t stay at the Holiday inn, but the food’s been good and the staff professional and friendly. It’s a good option, and the A/C keeps the place nice and cool on hot Huatulco days.
