Hotel Xestal

We stayed for two nights and the place was very bad. The pool was filthy, with bugs everywhere, and it wasn't clean. The building felt old, and the air conditioning barely worked, cutting in and out. The shower water was barely lukewarm, with almost no hot water, and we got only two towels. The internet was horrible. They close the pools at 10 p.m. I'd never stay here again.

The location made it easy to reach the beach, a restaurant, Oxxo, IMSS, Chedraui, and a gas station, all within a five-minute walk. Our room had a balcony, three double beds, two nightstands, a countertop with a mirror below the T, and a closet. The bathroom was spacious and nice, with hot water and plenty of bathroom items. The room itself was roomy and stayed cool with air conditioning, plus two large ceiling fans with separate speed controls. The air conditioning stopped twice, but the front desk staff fixed it right away. There are two pools and a shaded spot with tables and chairs. There's no breakfast or room service, and without a 'Do not disturb' sign, they came to clean every morning. A small fridge for cold drinks would have been nice.

Suite #9 was humid and had no windows to air it out. There were cockroaches in the room and bathroom. The air conditioning was off during the day and only worked at night. The water pressure was good, and the price was okay, but you get what you pay for.

The bed was comfortable and the shower had good water pressure, but I'd choose another hotel next time in Huatulco. I asked for a lower-floor room because of my bad knee and was flatly told no, so I had to climb two flights of stairs several times a day. After my first day out, the power was off, then the WiFi went down, and each time I had to go back downstairs. The sink is poorly designed, sending water onto the counter and floor. Voices from the pool carry into the room. There was no bottled water or glass.
