For what it costs, this place is absurdly overpriced. We’d heard it was one of Holbox’s original hotels, and I suspect it used to be great but is now poorly run. I’d rate the hotel itself around 3/5, but took away a star for the price. The beach is a strong point, with a nice balance of seclusion and quality. The better beaches to the east are farther from central restaurants and shops, and a noisy road separates them from the hotels. There was little guidance before arrival. Our room smelled bad from the drains and outside, and we could hear footsteps overhead and our neighbors coughing, flushing, and more. The hotel was stingy with beach towels and gave no basic information about water or drinking water in jugs or bottles. We had a mid-tier room, but unlike almost all the others, it had no table or outdoor chairs. The chaise outside our room was always dirty with bird droppings. Water pressure was terrible, and the included breakfast was mediocre and repetitive. Service was the main problem. You had to order from beach waitstaff rather than walk to the restaurant or bar, but they never checked in. They seemed more attentive to restaurant customers who weren’t staying at the hotel than to guests on the beach.

The location is nice, but that’s about it. The staff weren’t very good, and for the price I was disappointed. The walls are so thin you hear everything outside and in neighboring rooms. The shower had no pressure, and sometimes there was no water at all in either the shower or sink. We got two beach towels in the room, though they weren’t really towels, and there weren’t separate towels for washing our faces.

I’d give this a solid three stars. It’s right on the beach, though the beach itself isn’t the best, and the room was small and basic. The sea view was nice, and staff were friendly, but the overall vibe didn’t work for me. They seemed more focused on outside diners than on hotel guests. The biggest issue was the price, which felt completely out of line. I’ve visited Holbox several times and found better options for the same money.

We kept saying how glad we were to have picked this place. Its location is central, though it doesn’t feel that way, with great bars and restaurants 0-5 minutes away. The beach is lovely, wide, and not crowded, with a good number of sunbeds. Other nearby hotels have smaller, less attractive beaches. April brought lots of algae, which can happen, so we used the little bridge to the hotel’s left to get into the water. Bathing shoes weren’t essential, but we felt more comfortable wearing them. The rooms are very good for a 3* hotel, in good shape, with nice lighting, plenty of storage, and a stylish new bathroom. Our balcony view was incredible. The aircon was new, quiet, and positioned so it didn’t blow in our faces while we slept. The beds and pillows were average-firm and comfortable. Water pressure could be better, though it’s a general island issue, and I managed to wash my thick hair anyway. Housekeeping cleaned thoroughly and knew exactly which towels to replace. Breakfast is included but only sweet, so we went elsewhere for savory options. There are plenty of good breakfast spots nearby. The beach drinks were average, but staff did their best and regularly checked on sunbathers. Happy hour runs 5-7pm with 2-for-1 drinks, so one costs 4,50€, which felt fair. Lunch was decent and could be served right at the sunbed. There was good live music in the evening around happy hour and sunset, and the sunset view is so good you don’t need to get up. At night, music from the nearby hot corner was audible, but it stopped at a reasonable time and the rooms were insulated well enough. After drinks and dancing there, we slept like babies. This is a very decent 3* hotel and great value for money. The rooms are high standard for that category, and I’d recommend it 10/10.

The hotel is small and a good place to stay for a couple of days. Rooms are okay and have everything you need. Our toilet had an issue, but it was fixed quickly. Breakfast was served rather than buffet style, and it was great with everything we needed to start the day. The beach is cleaned daily and the sunset view is amazing. Christiaan on the beach worked hard and was great at making sure we got served.
