Hotel Los Arcos Holbox

The location is excellent, two blocks from the main beach and one block from the town square. The hotel is very basic, with a bed, TV, air conditioning, and WiFi only in reception. I paid 800 pesos a night, the cheapest place I could find without a reservation, and I’d stay again. Get a receipt when you check in. They tracked guests in a notebook and came to my room thinking I was checking out, even though I had another night. I had to repeat my conversation with the receptionist to remind them I’d paid for three nights.

For a budget stay, this place is decent and has the essentials: a bed, TV, and air conditioning. In May 2022 I paid 800 pesos per night. It’s across from the main Town Square, two blocks from the main beach, and right by the main bars and restaurants. From the ferry, you can walk straight there in less than a mile, around 7 to 10 minutes. Make sure you get a receipt at check-in. They recorded guests in a notebook and got mixed up about how many nights I’d paid for.

I don’t recommend this place at all. When we arrived, the manager didn’t greet us and was very unpleasant. The room was in terrible condition and had nothing but a bed. We woke up to toilet water all over the floor, and people were screaming in the courtyard at night. Although there was a wifi network, there was no internet in the room and they wouldn’t give us the room password. We asked for a refund so we could leave without making a scene. The person threw our money onto the counter. It was so disrespectful. There are much better hotels in holbox where people will treat you with respect.

The room was in poor shape. Water kept pooling in the bathroom because the drain sat higher than the uneven floor, and there was no shower curtain. The standing water had already left signs of mold. Music from the roof bar next door was banging loudly at night. The hotel staff were really nice, though.
