Hotel Mayari Holbox

The hotel has potential, which makes the noise such a shame. You can hear footsteps, doors slamming, and whole conversations in the hall, plus people yelling, playing music, and even strumming guitar after 10pm. It felt like a party hostel, and a good night’s sleep was impossible. We were traveling with a baby and really regret staying here.

The bed was hard as rocks, the internet painfully slow, and the hollow-core doors made for a loud place to stay. In the room, there was mold on the wall and pee clearly visible down the side of the toilet when showering. There were no towels at first; they said they’d bring some, but I had to go downstairs that evening. No hand towel or bath mat either. The broken hand soap dispenser had soap in a glass to dip your fingers into, gross, and stepping out of the shower meant getting sand right back on your feet. The hotel was only about half full, if that. We’d booked ahead and stayed two nights, which was enough for me to explore. I wish locals wouldn’t dump their trash for someone else to deal with. The sand beaches are beautiful. Back to Cozumel.

For one or two nights, this is a good hotel for the price, close to both the center and the beach. The studio was quite spacious and had a good bed, fridge, and TV. The rooms are noisy, though, and the bathroom wasn’t very clean.

Avoid this place at all costs. The sink and shower didn’t work, there was no water, and the toilet wouldn’t even flush. The Wi-Fi was down and the AC barely worked. Towels were dirty, and there was no fridge or toiletries in the room. The front desk was rude, seemed unskilled, and truly didn’t care about customers. The workers were lazy, and maintenance needs training. This hotel shouldn’t be operating.
