We only had three days at Marina Sunrise in Holbox, and I wish it had been longer. After several months of backpacking, it’s been our favorite accommodation so far. We got an upstairs corner room looking out over the lagoon. The memory foam mattress was surprisingly perfect for me, even though I’m usually not a fan of them. The room was lovely, with a shower, fridge, safe, bathroom, and a beautiful balcony. The air conditioning kept it comfortably cool. People mention that it’s a little out of town, but we didn’t find it far, and the beach was under a ten-minute walk. We went to the beach every day instead of using the pool, though the pool looked nice. Bike rentals are available too. The staff were kind, and they cleaned our room daily, which we hadn’t expected and appreciated. A few things to know: the walls are thin, so light sleepers may want earplugs. The hanging lights by the sink are low, and I bumped my head on them a few times while doing my makeup or shaving. There was some rubbish around the property too. That wasn’t the property’s fault, but it made the walk from the ferry terminal less pleasant. Otherwise, we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend it.

This is a beautiful place if you like being close to nature, and it’s right by the ferry. If you’re going in October, be aware that the natural phenomenon called "creciente" can flood the streets around the hotel. Walking there with your bags can be a problem, so I’d recommend taking a taxi. The hotel is clean, the pool is lovely, and the beaches and plenty of other things to do are within walking or biking distance. You can rent a bike at the hotel.

They replied to my Facebook message about an immediate slip rental for our 40-foot sailboat extremely quickly, and the owner came out to show us around the marina. It’s small and new. Ferry wake wasn’t bad when we tied up with long crisscrossing lines. This is the end of the ferry route, so they’ve slowed almost to a stop by the time they reach this area. There are no ferries at night.

The rooms are comfortable, practical, and well designed for Holbox. The common areas are pleasant, and the atmosphere is peaceful. Just be prepared for the access road. It isn’t walkable, there are puddles all the time, and it floods at night, so you have to take a Razer or Can-Am taxi. That adds to the daily cost. It can work well if you’re ready to pay for transport. We could hear some of the neighbors talking.
