Villas Coco Resort - Adults Only

The staff were really pleasant, and the gorgeous rooms exceeded what we expected. The jacuzzi worked, and they even supplied bubbles. It's a boutique-style hotel tucked into the jungle, with waves roaring in the morning. Breakfast comes out on a nicely decorated patio, and there's a lovely pool too. A good beach club is only a 400-meter walk away. I'd especially recommend it for couples, and the price is more than reasonable.

The only plus for me was the location, close to some nice beaches. The pool was cold and small, with a couple of broken lounge chairs, and breakfast was unappealing: two slices of white bread with packaged jelly and some stale fruit. The rooms felt old and dirty, and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. There really wasn't anything else nice about the place. I wish we hadn't stayed.

I knew the location worked perfectly for us from my previous visit to the island. There's no beach on site, and beach access is through a rocky alleyway, but don't let that put you off. It's a budget-friendly hotel, about a 10-minute golf cart ride from the north beach.

It's quiet at the south end of the island, with a rustic, laid-back feel and great walking trails for anyone looking to exercise. The west and east sides are both about a five-minute walk from Coco's. The rooms are large, and the beds are very comfortable. Staff are professional and helpful once you get to know them; Carlos and Jorge speak English well. We stayed at the Villa Coco's location. My five-star rating is in comparison with what you'll find on Isla Mujeres. This isn't an all-inclusive resort, as the other descriptions make clear, but the price is very good by comparison.
