Hotel Quinta Izamal

A bit of a walk to Centro, but we enjoy the exercise. It’s a very nice place to stay and a good price.

A basic little hotel, but I enjoyed my stay. The landscaping was nice, and my room was clean and had air conditioning.

This turned into a nightmare for us. A storm hit just after we arrived around 3pm, and we lost electricity, air conditioning, and any information. We waited for hours with no power. We asked to leave and get a refund after only 2-3 hours there, but the owner, through the staff, kept asking us to wait until after dinner. When we returned from dinner around 8.30pm, it was pitch black, still with no electricity and no update from him. He offered reimbursement of 50%. Eight days later, there had been no communication, so I called again. Now they say even the 50% refund isn’t possible and that I have to go get it in izamal. The boss refuses to speak to me and only passes information through the woman at the front desk. He declined all my calls, and she says they can’t refund us because our bank is foreign. This is criminal, and I advise you to be careful.

Everything was super clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. This was one of the best hotels in its category that we stayed at in the region. I’d definitely recommend it.
