Hotel Alcatraz la Paz

We first booked this lovely place at the last minute for New Year's Eve, then came back for another night several days later after camping at nearby beaches. The quiet setting was especially welcome on NYE. Our room was large and comfortable, with a king bed, mini fridge, microwave, split, and big tv. The patio was beautiful, full of plants and outdoor tables and chairs. The women who run the hotel were kind and accommodating, and had coffee ready for us in the morning. Such a fantastic stay, I’d recommend it to anyone.

The owners were the highlight for us, so helpful and accommodating beyond what we expected. We enjoyed the food and had fun playing with the dogs, too. The rooms are comfortable and nicely equipped, and the whole place has a charming feel. It’s a bit away from the Melocon, though there’s a marina nearby. We stayed about a month ago, and this place is far better than the two-star rating it lists.

From outside, you’d never know how lovely the hotel is. Inside, the courtyard feels like an oasis, the rooms are spacious and well equipped, and the bed was very comfortable. Maria welcomed us so warmly that we felt at home right away.

The inside garden is lovely, a warm surprise after the rather uninviting exterior. Our hostess was kind, spoke excellent English, and could help arrange transport and excursions. The food was delicious, parking was easy, and there were two friendly, quiet dog ambassadors plus a cat who loved attention. A charming place that worked well for me as a solo traveler.
