Galerias Hotel

For an economy hotel, this is easily the best I've found. The rooms are clean and quiet, and the bed and pillows are amazing. There's a small covered, secure parking area beneath the rooms, with stairs leading straight to reception. Just keep in mind there's no restaurant or cafeteria, only plain instant coffee and chilled water bottles.

Mosquitoes were the biggest problem. Within an hour of going to bed, we were covered in bites and had to drive to an all night pharmacy for ointment. The itching got under control, but then we found there was no hot water. My friend, who is Méxican, took a cold shower. I let the water run for ten minutes, then went to the desk because the phone wasn't working. The deskman told me to wait another ten minutes, but I believe he lied: the hot water had been shut off for the night. I was able to shower ten minutes later. In the morning there was plenty of hot water. When we left, I told the desk manager what had happened and said he had lied about the hot water being off at night. We'd stayed here at least ten times before and had always been happy. The cable wasn't working when we arrived, but we were exhausted and didn't mind that at first.

The rooms are great, and the service was really nice. A good place for work meetings.
