The receptionist was very rude and charged me for a towel that wasn’t clean or white. It wasn’t our fault it was already dirty when we got it, but I paid for the filthy towel anyway. There was no toilet paper in the room, no hot water, and the pillows and mattresses were very hard.

The bathroom seemed newly refurbished, with brand-new tiles, and it was really clean. I chose a room with a tub instead of one facing the main square, and I was glad I did. A bath mat would have been nice, though that may have been an oversight rather than the usual setup. We had to call reception to get hot water, but it came through a minute after we called. The firm beds suited me. There were some giant mosquitoes, but they weren’t too bright and were easy to squish. In Vallarta they have more survival instinct and are harder to catch. The hotel impressed me, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much it exceeded what I expected.
