HS HOTSSON Hotel Leon

A great hotel, but there are events going on all the time, so it gets very noisy. Not a good fit if you want to relax.

The massage session was relaxing, and the techniques were very soothing. The private lounge is small, but tucked away from foot traffic and has a city view. The place is well maintained, and the staff are clean and polite.

The restaurant food was fresh and decent for the price, and housekeeping kept our room immaculate, with very clean bedding. But the service this time was a letdown. We’d stayed here twice before and had good experiences, but on this brief visit to Leon, we were on the concierge level and the room amenities were poor. There was no fridge, just coffee and one small bottle of water. One day we got no water at all. I asked housekeeping first, but the person cleaning our floor said she couldn’t give me any, even though I could see a case of water on her cart. I then called the front desk, and they never sent any up. The concierge room service was horrible. They barely acknowledged us, and asking for something seemed to bother the wait staff. The restaurant staff were also inattentive, standing around talking instead of looking after customers. Over the weekend, a loud group we assumed were guests woke us at 3:00 am. They seemed obviously overserved and made a huge commotion for over 30 minutes. We were uncomfortable that it went on so long without any security appearing to approach them. It felt like the hotel had no security. We were very disappointed, especially after the excellent service during our two earlier stays. It’s a decent hotel, but overpriced if this is the new normal.

Updated review 07/2025: After staying here several more times over the past 2 years, I’m sadly taking stars off. I also noticed the hotel never even replied to thank me for my earlier review 😒. I’m not as impressed now. Nobody seems to know where the two advertised hot tubs are. I feel brushed off while staff spend ages chatting with other people, and they try to flatter my mother-in-law even though I’m the one making our reservations. When I tried to change our reservation with her, they ignored me and I had to wait to check in. Last year, 2024, staff didn’t properly handle an emergency that was life-threatening, or even offer a ride to the hospital. This stay, they did offer transportation, seemingly to try to upsell, but it wasn’t available when my daughter could have died. We also got no compensation for the inconvenience of having our water shut off for the entire night. I do love most of the serving and bar tender staff, who always greet me and my husband. Cesar, other Cesar, and Juan in the executive lounge have been especially hospitable, and Juan made me the best cappuccinos ❤️ During our earlier stay, it was so relaxing that I already couldn’t wait to come back. The poolside is majestic, the hotel is beautiful, and housekeeping is amazing. I’ve never seen such extensive daily cleaning, and it’s one of the cleanest hotels we’ve stayed in. The staff were very hospitable, the food was fresh and delicious, and the mini bar was stocked with drinks each day. That’s nothing like what you experience in the U.S. Must try the chimichurry sauce.
