OYO Hotel Miramar, Loreto

We asked where to find really good tamales, and the woman working there made several calls but couldn't track any down. Then, two hours later, she knocked on our door with two hot, homemade chicken tamales. Such kindness. The place is very clean, wonderfully priced, and just north of town, with WiFi, TV, and hot showers. Don't hesitate to stay.

She went out of her way to help when I arrived exhausted after driving down from San Felipe. I wanted food but didn't want to get back in the truck, so I asked the front desk if I could park inside if I rented a room. I didn't want to leave my truck on the dirt street. She said yes, though there was room for only three or four vehicles at most. After I backed in and unloaded, she asked what I wanted to eat, then went out and came back with chicken tacos. Perfect. Thank you so much for everything. The room was small and simple, with two beds, a TV, AC, and a decent-sized bathroom. It's a very small place.

My sister and I didn't feel safe in the area, which seemed very sketchy, so we never even checked in. It's a long way from downtown shopping and restaurants, and the description felt misleading. I wouldn't stay there even if the rooms were clean.

The neighborhood is bad, though the area itself is quiet. Everything was clean and the staff were nice. The bathroom is quite dated and needs a lot of repairs, and the beds squeak, but they're okay. It was good enough for a night and served its purpose.
