If comfort isn’t what matters to you and you mainly want the location, it could work, but I found the stay questionable. I stay in motels more often than not, and this was rough. The room smelled odd, there was no hot water, the shower didn’t drain, the safe didn’t work, and the room was subpar. On the plus side, the location and staff were good, the attached bar had reasonably priced drinks, and there was plenty of parking while we were there, though I don’t know if that’s enough in peak season. Skip the coffee. The rooftop pool area and its view were nice, and local restaurants like monjar blanco were delicious.

The location is excellent, and the hotel manager really went out of her way to help, though her hands were tied. We left after three days of a seven-day stay and moved to our favorite hotel down the street, Fiesta Americana. In the first room, the AC was off and it smelled very musty. The water was shut off when I got up to use the bathroom the next morning. I called the front desk and they turned it back on, but this happened every night. Showering flooded the bathroom and spilled into the room. After we complained multiple times, they moved us to an even worse room.

Breakfast was succulent, but cleanliness was lacking and we were left on our own, with no welcome. I had to sign the hotel policies in Spanish, and none of the staff could translate them for me. The AC didn’t work, so I cleaned its filters myself. They looked like they hadn’t been cleaned since installation. The bathroom floor doesn’t slope toward the drain, leaving water pooled on one side. Only 12 of the shower head’s 64 jets spray water, so bathing takes ages. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly, with soap marks still on the wall, and the shower gel was one small 50ml bottle for two adults.

Our room had no windows, the gym wasn’t maintained well and its main machine didn’t work, and the pool area seemed a bit left to itself. The hotel is supposed to be 5-star, but it didn’t feel like that at all. At full 5-star prices I’d have called it a scam. We found a really good offer, though, so for what we paid it was fair. Definitely not worth the regular price.
