The room was filthy and probably the dingiest I've ever seen, barely a step up from a crime scene. There was no hot water, just one floor fan. I was told it would be 550 pesos, paid 600, and was promised the 50 pesos change in the morning. It never came, so it felt like I was charged the Gringo rate. Booking.com was cheaper, though I still wouldn't recommend staying here.

Our second-floor room had a king bed and a peaceful view of the beach across the quiet street, lined with palm trees. The bed was clean and really comfortable, and the room was clean, with plenty of hot water in the shower. We felt safe there. The beach is just south of the busy area where the day cruisers gather, and hardly any of them seem to reach it. Town is an easy 15-minute walk, or you can take a taxi. The only snag was the cool weather and the single sheet on the bed. Luckily, we had our beach towels with us and used them to stay warm at night.

We ended up staying longer than planned because we liked it so much. The place was clean, the staff were really nice, and the house lady regularly sprayed for mosquitoes by our entrance. There's a nice beach there with a beach ball, seats, shade, and water access. Yes, there was sargrassum and it didn't smell great, but that's nature, not something the hotel or beach could control, and we were able to ignore it. Rodolfo took us snorkeling for a good price. We saw lots of fish and coral, plus a stingray and even a turtle. He also rented us a tandem bike, which was a great experience.

We found a good Booking.com deal, 520 mxn a night for a cabana. It was spacious, with comfortable beds, a nice sitting area outside, hammocks all over, and parking right in front. The location made it easy to walk into town while staying away from the cruise ship day trippers. My one suggestion is to add a roof to the bathroom so it's more separate from the bedroom. Turning on the bathroom light brightens the entire bedroom.
