Courtyard By Marriott Mazatlan Beach Resort

The staff are friendly, the pool is very clean, and there's usually enough chaise lounges. We like staying here, and this was our second visit to both Mazatlan and this hotel. The big catch is the music from several very loud Mexican marching bands, every day from 1pm-5pm. If you want an afternoon siesta, bring earplugs or stay somewhere else. They really do play every single day, todos los dias. We went to the gym daily. It's clean, spacious, air conditioned, and fairly basic, though it could be cooler. The equipment is pretty new and works: 3 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, a recumbent bike, 2 adjustable benches, dumbbells up to 50 lbs, and a cable machine. There are also 3 medicine balls and Swiss balls that need air. Plenty of towels are available, and the water cooler works. If it's empty, call and they'll refill it. I just wish there were more gym equipment. A squat rack with a barbell and weights would make it perfect, especially with all that unused space. A better gym would make this the best hotel in Mazatlan, and I'd live here. :)

The beach is right outside, and the pool area is lovely. We've spent two ten-day vacations here, and both have been wonderful. It's also well placed for good food and music. We'll come back again.

Mazatlán's area here is easy to get around, though a little touristy. You can walk to plenty of good restaurants and shops, and the beach is easy to reach. The pool and pool bar are fantastic. All the staff were amazing, especially Jose and Alejandro.

Mazatlan is beautiful, and the hotel's architecture is too, but the building hasn't been maintained. Service was lacking as well. During our week-long vacation, not once did we get coffee packets for the room, and we never had enough towels. One day there was only one bath towel. English communication was hit or miss, though I don't speak Spanish, so I can easily forgive that. The restaurant is quite expensive. Since this isn't an all-inclusive resort, I'd choose a smaller, cheaper hotel and spend the money on good food and drink around town instead of at the Courtyard by Marriott.
