Marena Suites and Apartments

The price is high, and this place definitely isn't worth it. Rooms are dark and dirty, with no natural light unless you open the blinds onto the passageway. The WiFi is terrible, and the concrete interferes with cell service. Pool guests play loud music right outside the door, and there's no sound insulation in the room. There's a long walk to the rooms, no luggage carts, and the $1,000 pesos security deposit was higher than anywhere else I've stayed in Mexico. Free parking just means parking on the street, with no security.

We spent 15 nights at Marena Suites and Apartments in December 2016, and it was our best hotel stay in years. The pool was clean and lovely to use, and the grounds were beautifully landscaped and well kept. The place was spotless and in great condition, with no mold, musty smell, insects, or litter. It's a modern private hotel, recently built, with smart suite layouts and well-designed shared spaces. It's on a very quiet street, yet only a five-minute walk from the ocean beach and close to the Golden Zone. If you want a clean, peaceful place to relax on vacation, this is the best option.

The outside looked decent, but our room had a really strong mold smell, flea-like bugs in the bathroom, and stained sheets. We handed back the key and left. The man in the office was very friendly and apologized. I still don't understand how this place has such good reviews. It seems suspicious.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and I really appreciated having a lounge area where I could work in the morning. There was also a nice pool, a jacuzzi, and a few places to sit. Everything seemed thoughtfully arranged so guests could enjoy their time and have what they needed. It's close to everything, and there's the cutest cafeteria right next door with a top-notch menu. We absolutely loved our stay. Honestly, I wish we'd found this place on our first day in Mazatlan. I appreciate the service and will definitely come back soon!
