Celeste Del Mar Eco-Hotel

I spent a whole month here and loved it. The hosts were so welcoming and treated me warmly. The owner lives on-site and was quick to answer questions or share tips about nearby places. The hotel is right behind the beach entrance through the mangroves to Playa Mermejita, a beautiful, laid-back stretch with incredible sunsets. There are a few restaurants, a café and a small convenience store close by, which was enough for me. For more options, the main part of Mazunte is about a 10-minute walk over the hill, with lots of shops, cafés and restaurants. My room was comfortable and spacious, and it was cleaned often. They regularly provided clean bath and beach towels. I also really liked the pool, with its partly shaded water and deck for lounging.

I liked Celeste Del Mar so much that I returned for a couple more nights during my trip. Playa Mermejita is right outside, and at night you can hear the waves. The location is hard to beat. It felt like home in paradise. The owner and everyone working there were very friendly. As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. The rooms are nicely decorated, have what you need, and the bed is very comfortable. I can definitely recommend it.

We were two Irish girls passing through and ended up having such a magical stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the owner Siddhartha arranged an incredible whale-watching trip. We were so grateful to see lots of humpbacks and dolphins up close. This gorgeous place is beside the spot where people gather for sunset. There’s a little hill where we enjoyed a delicious margarita, and later we read in the hammock and fell asleep to the ocean. I didn’t miss air conditioning, the sea breeze and fan were enough for me. Each morning there was freshly chopped fruit, and they welcomed us with a nice cold beer. Laundry service was handy, too. Highly recommend it.

Just a stone’s throw from the beach, with lovely hosts and a nice spot in town. The rooms are simple but furnished nicely. There’s no air conditioning, but the fan worked fine, and the Wi-Fi worked. It’s a good place to switch off. Couldn’t recommend it more.
