The host was very responsive and nice, and the location is excellent, close to the beach and just off the main rinconcito street, so there’s less noise. The room looked good and the bed was comfortable. It was fairly clean, though the main shelves were clean and the others were dirty. With no A/C, the second-floor room was an okay temperature for sleeping, and they provided two excellent fans. Ants got in through a gap under the door, so we blocked it with a towel. The grounds were a mix of nice and just okay, and the small pools weren’t in service. It was a great stay overall, though a little short of what I’d expect for $92CAD a night.

The property is beautiful, well looked after, and super comfortable, with a great spot near both the beach and main street. My partner and I stayed for six weeks and loved it. Rosa, Antonio, Jonathan & Itzel took great care of us. We’d absolutely stay again.

When I returned two hours after checkout for a Kindle I’d left behind, the woman said nothing had been left and that she’d already cleaned the room. The place itself seemed run down, with chicken poop on the floors and a dirty box of laid eggs in the bathroom. We hadn’t booked ahead. The husband quoted 400 mxn peso for a small one-bedroom room with a double bed, then his partner quoted 450, which we paid for the night. When we looked more closely, the room hadn’t been cleaned. There was sand on the sheets and black hair all over the bed. I’d look for somewhere else in Mazunte.

We paid $1500 a night and left feeling underwhelmed. The family running the place was very kind, but the rooms were dirty and the pool was empty. The posada felt past its glory days, with random objects and cleaning products scattered around. Photos from the past were sadly misleading.

Friendly, down-to-earth people, sweet rooms and comfy beds. The kitchen is rad, ideal for cooking fresh-caught fish, and it’s a short walk to the beach. Now if we could just ban tourists with horrible tattoos... jk.
