Casa Amate 61 - Mérida Centro

The place looks cool, but that's where the positives end for me. It seems caught between being a boutique hotel and a cheap hostel, and fails at both. The walls are very thin, so people, doors and workers woke me up at all hours. The beds and pillows were some of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. Staff turn off the AC, and the windows don't open. The pool was small and filthy. The staff at the front were nice, but requests were either charged for or completely ignored. I can't recommend this place.

The place looks just like the pictures, and it's very instagrammable. The dark haired girl at reception was incredibly friendly. The pool is only big enough for a quick plunge, not swimming laps. It's maybe a 20 minute walk from the city center. We didn't mind, though sometimes we took an uber back, which only costs 40 persos.

The beds were super comfortable, and the rooms and showers were very clean. We loved lounging by the pool and making the most of the place we'd paid for. The cafe/bar was lovely too. The location isn't the best, but it's manageable. Would recommend!

The photos are accurate, and the hotel is cute, though the bright pink makes it all look a little nicer than it really is. I stayed in a private room, and the bed wasn't comfortable. You can't open the windows, either. If you want a clean room, this isn't the right hotel. The cleaning staff were incredibly noisy and woke me up, but for whatever reason they stayed away from my room. The entrance staff were adorably sweet, and the bar served decent food that you can have by the pool. But the pool water was very dirty, and they don't provide towels. They rent bikes for the full day and won't lower the price if you only want one for two hours, which makes no sense. Uber is cheaper, by the way. The walk to the city Center and food takes a good 20-25 minutes.
