Casa Tavera

We had an Airbnb mix-up and called to ask whether a room was available. After a stressful day, the friendly front desk staff told us to give them 20 minutes, and soon we were settled into a beautiful room at Casa Tavera. This was our second stay, and somehow it felt even better than before. There was plenty of freshly made food at the improved complimentary breakfast, plus complimentary coffee, tea, and cookies through the day and evening for a pick-me-up. The staff kept the hotel and pool spotless. On our last visit about 2 years ago, a nearby club caused some noise on weekend nights, but this time it was peaceful and relaxing. We still love Casa Tavera and would absolutely stay again.

We had a comfortable room with a nicely appointed bathroom, and the pool area was very private and quiet. Staff were always friendly and accommodating. It’s centrally located, close to good restaurants and sightseeing spots. Breakfast was wonderful each morning, especially the exceptional fruit. The cookies were tasty too, and you can order more to take home.

The breakfast was included, varied from one morning to the next, and delicious. I especially liked the chicken enchiladas. The hotel also has a small but lovely pool with clean water, waterfalls, and a nice temperature, plus other high-quality lounge facilities. Service was super friendly, with help for everything and plenty of complimentary drinks. Our room was spacious, the air conditioning worked perfectly in 38-degree weather, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was well equipped. A top-notch hotel, possibly the best place to stay in Merida, if it fits your budget.

The service is what stood out most. We had a few travel delays, and the team helped us book and rebook excursions and restaurants. They reply quickly on WhatsApp and have been kind and patient throughout, going above and beyond. Veronica, Pablo, and everyone we’ve interacted with have been warm, professional, and attentive. Casa Tavera is in a central spot, a short walk from the historic center, restaurants, and coffee shops, but it still feels tranquil. The decor is tasteful and the pool is pretty. Rooms have high ceilings, plenty of space, comfortable beds and pillows, and great showers. We’ve slept well every night. Breakfast orders are taken the evening before, and each one has been delicious, from chilaquiles and enchiladas to fresh fruit and breakfast cookies. We’ve been extremely pleased with our stay and highly recommend it.
