Kinyaah

Kinyaah Hotel is a good value if you’re visiting Merida for health care or a vacation. The rooms are new and comfortable, and the WiFi was excellent. I had no trouble connecting to my conference. There’s a restaurant downstairs with good, hygienic dinner and breakfast, plus other fast food options in the square and a 24-hour drugstore next door.

The people there were great and friendly, and I liked the area. I felt safe and didn’t mind the noise. I could walk to most places I wanted to go, with the mall about 10 minutes away, and used Uber for a few other trips. My room looked out onto an intersection, which gave me a nice view of parades and traffic from above. I stayed for over a month and asked for a refrigerator in my room. They said every room had one, so since I had a “family” room I assumed it would be the larger kind shown in the photos. It was super small, though, and there wasn’t enough space for groceries, so I had to shop often. I’d already made the trip there and wasn’t about to switch rooms. I’ll add a photo, with the outlet and top of the fridge for scale. If you need more room, be specific when you ask. A family might also feel cramped in my “family” room with its two beds. There is hot water, but the supply runs out quickly during a shower. My room had a 10L hot water tank. It heats up again after a few minutes.

It’s simple and clean, though the photos make it look more sophisticated.

I loved everything about the place, apart from how close it is to the hospital.
