Our second visit to La Pantera Negra was just as enjoyable as the first. Gina and Jean-Pierre were informative and took care of everything we needed, and the breakfasts were superb. The dishes were beautifully presented too. The B&B's location and its eclectic but clean rooms make this a definite place for us to return to. ¡Gracias!

I'm finding this hard to review. The owners meant well and put in a lot of effort, but this was one of the more expensive places we stayed, so I expected more. After five hours of travel in 30-degree heat, all I wanted was to get to our room. Instead, there was a 20-minute talk about the languages of Mexico. We couldn't come or go without having a conversation, and maybe we just didn't want that much attention. The garden was especially run down, and nobody would want to use that pool. We never got a hot shower the whole time. Breakfast was nice, but it came with more continuous conversation. I'm sure some people would enjoy that.

The upstairs terrace breakfast was a lovely start to the day, and the two sweet dogs added to the atmosphere. Gina and Jean-Pierre were wonderful hosts. Jean-Pierre knows a great deal about Mérida and Mexico and shared helpful tips that made our stay even better. The old house is beautiful, almost like stepping into an art gallery, with character everywhere. I did notice a faint mold smell in the room, but Jean-Pierre's warm, informative presence more than made up for that small issue. We had a fantastic stay at La Pantera Negra and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere cozy and charming in Mérida.

The hosts, Gina and Jean-Pierre, were the best part of our stay. They were very friendly and informative, and we really enjoyed our two rooms. It's about five long blocks from the main plaza, with not much right nearby. An Uber to the nearby restaurants was only $3 or $4 US dollars. There were several occasions when we had no water or no hot water. Jean-Pierre tried to stay on top of it, but it was definitely a problem. The back patio could be lovely, but it wasn't maintained, and the pool couldn't be used. I enjoyed staying there, but feel I should mention those issues.

Gina and Jean-Pierre are kind owners and know the area well. They were happy to suggest things to do while we were in Mérida. The daily continental breakfast was tasty and just the right amount. La Pantera Negra Bed & Breakfast/Galleria is conveniently placed, about a 10-minute walk from the main plaza, market, bus station, and various restaurants. My wife and I had a delightful first visit to Mérida and would happily stay here again. ~ Hugo & Vero
