Hotel Colonial Mexicali

The AC was awful. The room never got below 84 degrees, and the unit shut off every 45 minutes. The shower wouldn’t drain properly and leaked all over the floor. The room also didn’t meet cleaning standards: there were swirl marks on the mirrors and no replacement bathroom paper. I won’t stay here again. Get an airbnb for the same price.

The beds only had sheets, no bedspreads, and when I asked for them the staff gave me attitude. There were four of us but only two towel sets, and asking for more meant dealing with the same attitude. Customer service was horrible, and the cleaning needs more attention. It’s overpriced for what you get. :(

We asked for two nights, but the morning after our first night in the new room, staff knocked on our door three times to say we hadn’t paid. We had paid initially, so it wasn’t our fault if they hadn’t charged us for both nights. We paid for the second night, of course, but those repeated knocks were rude. They were helpful the day before and moved us after the shower in our first room wouldn’t drain properly. The replacement was basically the same room, but its shower drained. It had no hot water, only warm. We’d first been put in a room with two small beds because no rooms with a big bed were available. Calling this a four-star hotel is a joke. It’s just okay, and the rooms aren’t great. Don’t expect much. It’s hard to find a nice hotel in Mexicali, but they’re charging too much for what they offer.

The price was good, but the room was dirty. There were just two thin sheets and no blankets, the bathroom smelled strong, and the toilet barely worked.
