Air Lux

This doesn’t feel like a hotel. It’s a two-floor penthouse in a residential apartment building, divided into several rooms. The kitchens and dining areas are shared on each floor unless you rent both rooms on that floor. Renting out the rooms isn’t the problem. What’s misleading is listing it on Google as a hotel. It should be presented as an apartment stay, like an AirBnb, so guests know what they’re booking and can decide for themselves. Giving people the wrong impression is bound to cause trouble. The security guy was unfriendly and had a pretty bad attitude. There are lots of families with very young children in the building, so be aware it can get very loud and rowdy.

That penthouse is a great way to take in Mexico City, with views in every direction. I stayed Jan 19th-23rd, 2023 in the four-bedroom unit, and the owner and staff made us feel welcome. Breakfast was included, which was a nice bonus. The garage entrance is tiny, though, and wasn't a good fit for my Ford Explorer. I'd recommend it for a group wanting those city views.

Still think about that stay. Easily my favorite in CDMX, 10/10.

The bed was so soft I couldn't sleep, and the room felt damp. I also found out it was shared, which the listing hadn't said. Canceling won't get you a refund. I wouldn't recommend it.
