Best Western Majestic

The hotel has character, and I liked its history. The central location is good, but being beside the plaza also means a commercial, noisy area. Street noise made it impossible to sleep. The rooms and furniture were in bad shape, the chair felt disgusting to sit on, and cleanliness was questionable. The bathroom smelled, too. The place needs an upgrade. Service was stressful: the man at reception was unfriendly, unpleasant, and had an attitude. I don’t understand how a decent hotel can allow that standard.

I was here from 1/19 to 1/24/26, and it’s a great hotel with an unbelievable location in the Centro District. Calle Madero runs from the Zocalo to the Palace of Fine Arts as a pedestrian walkway for several long blocks. Along it you’ll find everything from McDonalds to lots of high-end gold jewelry shops.

We had just one night here after eight hours traveling by bus and before a 15-hour flight home, and it was the worst hotel night of my life. Our first room was on the sixth floor, facing the main square. The view was nice, but without soundproof windows it was extremely noisy. The room and bed covers were dirty. They offered to move us, which was convenient, but the next room was in bad shape too: dirty covers and toilet, a cockroach in the toilet, hairs on a pillow, crumbs on the table, and large clumps of dust under the mattress that we could see without moving it. It seemed the room hadn’t been prepared, or housekeeping wasn’t doing its job. At 5 am, some drunk, rude, arrogant guys came into the room opposite and started shouting, playing loud music, laughing, and smoking. We could smell the smoke in our room. I reported them to reception. A hotel employee went to speak to them, but their behavior didn’t change, despite the no-smoking policy. Worse, he revealed that we had complained, which felt unprofessional and left us feeling unsafe. The location is good, but the place is loud and dirty. If you need rest before a flight, book elsewhere. This was a nightmare and doesn’t meet any standards I’d expect from a Best Western.

The views from the restaurant balcony gloir are amazing, and it’s a lovely old colonial hotel with modern facilities in a fantastic location. The evening buffet wasn’t good, and breakfast didn’t offer much choice, but the menu dishes are delicious.
