The room was lovely, with a great design, an enormous comfortable bed, and a generously sized ensuite. The communal lounge and kitchen were stunning, though perhaps we were lucky that nobody else was using them or making noise late at night. It was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was very enjoyable: tasty, good quality, and generous portions. I wasn’t sure whether we could choose one fruit bowl and one of the two main options, since that wasn’t explained. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The location was fantastic, with easy access to Condesa and Roma, as well as other sights, parks, and museums. We felt very safe in the hotel and the neighborhood. There was some traffic noise from a nearby main road, but we got used to it quickly and it didn’t affect our stay. The only reason I’d give the room four stars was its size and limited clothing storage. It was fine for a few days like our trip, but there was nowhere to put our suitcases, and we had to keep opening them because there was so little hanging space.

From Thursday to Sunday, the hotel worked perfectly as a comfortable base for exploring Mexico City. For the price, it’s good value, with a great location and friendly staff. We spent most of our time out, but I did some work one morning, and the rest of the time we mainly needed a place to sleep and grab a quick coffee and croissant before heading out. The espresso machine was great each morning, and the light breakfast was just right. There’s no elevator, so stairs might be a consideration if you travel with lots of suitcases. We packed light and found them easy to use. We were missing a hair dryer, but they replaced it promptly. The air conditioning wasn’t swinging open, and they sent a technician quickly to fix it.

The hotel is charming, feels fresh, and is a great value. I was impressed by Casa Altata after my 11th trip to CDMX. I’m a travel agent, and I’d happily send clients here. I’d read some early reviews that weren’t great and was hesitant, but I’m glad I took the chance. It’s a small boutique hotel, not a five-star property, but I was very comfortable and the price was incredibly affordable. The rooms are well equipped, with comfortable beds, linens, and pillows, and the staff are very accommodating. It has classic art deco Condesa vibes, with jewel tones, warm wood, and thoughtfully curated spaces. The location is convenient, on a tree-lined street in Condesa. They provide bathrobes, the rooms have solid AC, and each floor can be closed off to make a little suite of three rooms with shared space. That common area is large, with a good-sized desk for working, a sizable couch, chairs, two mini bars, a Nespresso machine, and views of the interior courtyard. It would suit a group of friends who wanted to book the whole property or a floor or two. There’s no elevator, so clients need to be okay with stairs. Otherwise, it’s a great spot for people in their 30s who like design but don’t want to spend too much. My 60-year-old mom loved it too and already wants to come back with her friends. Really happy I took a chance on these guys. I wasn’t disappointed.

I really wanted to love this place. The staff are lovely, the design is cute, and the neighbourhood is great, but the sound insulation is awful. We stayed for a week and didn't have a single good night's sleep because of the noise from the busy street nearby. We both wore earplugs, but they didn't help. If the hotel owners read this, I strongly recommend upgrading the windows. A few other things to note: The bed was so bouncy that even the slightest movement from either of us shook the whole bed, which made sleeping even harder. We spent one night in one of the Standard rooms, but its bathroom door wouldn't close all the way. Not ideal. We chose to upgrade to a Luxury room, which had a bathroom door that closed fully and is a much better choice if you're staying for several days. If you prefer flatter pillows, bring your own because these were incredibly thick. The staff found me a slightly thinner one, which I appreciated, but it was so firm that it wasn't really usable. There are only four breakfast options each day. That was fine for the first couple of days, but it would be nice to have more choices, perhaps a buffet with fruit, pastries, and so on, for people staying a long time. The food was good, but the dishes and cutlery were dirty a couple of days in a row, with a lipstick stain on a mug and something stuck to the spoons. I don't speak much Spanish, so I didn't say anything, though I should have. They had a filtered water dispenser on every floor and in the lobby, and each floor has its own lounge area. This is my first trip to Mexico City, so I don't know whether it's common for most hotels not to have soundproofing, but I would recommend looking into that before booking a hotel here.

Title: Friendly Staff, But Skip This Location: Poor Maintenance and Amenities Rating: 2/5 stars I recently stayed here for six days and wanted to share an honest review. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, but the property itself had serious problems that made our stay uncomfortable. The positives: Staff: Very welcoming and accommodating. Comfort: The beds and pillows were very comfortable, so we slept well. Layout: Great for families or groups, with three rooms and a shared area on each floor, which made it feel quite private. The negatives: Amenities: There was no hot water at all during our stay, and carrying luggage without an elevator was difficult. Room quality and service: The room wasn't made up at all on one of the days. Breakfast: The schedule changed unexpectedly. One morning the chef didn't show up, and another morning we were served cold porridge that had been reheated. Coffee: They were extremely stingy. We received only one coffee pod for our six-day stay, and one morning they ran out completely. Noise: It can get very noisy when other guests are partying. Location: The hotel is out of the way and inconvenient for exploring. Verdict: I can't recommend staying here. It's much better to stay in Roma Norte or a nearby, more central area. The logistical hassles outweigh the friendly service. Avoid this place if you want hot water and reliable service.
