Casa Bis

The area is lovely and the location is a real plus. Staff were friendly, and the room was fairly comfortable. It wasn’t especially spacious, though the bathroom was large and there was a terrace. Cleanliness was okay but not spotless, and we didn’t like the synthetic blanket. Outside noise was an issue on the busy corner, especially with garbage collection around 6-7 in the morning. The AC drowned it out for us, but a light sleeper might have trouble.

The people running Casa Bis were a highlight. They helped me when I arrived at a very late hour, made coffee, and let me check in early. The cleaners seemed on top of things, though I noticed an odd bathroom smell once, and the soap dispensers weren’t working when I arrived. I liked the comfortable beds, and the room had a wardrobe, drawers, and Netflix. It was small, but everything had a place. They even provided earplugs and chocolates. There’s no air conditioning, so winter should be fine, but summer could feel hot. Casa Bis has a charming, artsy feel and some quirks. It’s right in Condesa, with leafy streets and trendy cafés nearby, and you can walk to plenty of places or get an Uber easily. A good base if you want a lively location and helpful hosts.

The hotel looks appealing and is in a great location, but our stay had several serious problems. We arrived at 00:30 after being told there was 24/7 reception, yet nobody came to the door for half an hour despite our knocking and ringing. When someone finally appeared, they didn’t apologize. Staff were generally unfriendly, barely greeting us, and nobody was there when we tried to check out, even after ringing. I also found that 80 euros kept in the bottom of my backpack’s laptop compartment had been taken. The bag was closed and had remained in the room, so unfortunately I can only conclude that the cleaner deliberately searched for and stole the money.

My room was comfortable, with a nice bed, a fan, and a bathroom with hot water that felt great at the end of the day. I stayed in the single-bed room #6. There was no AC. Reception is open 24 hours, and the staff were attentive. They knew I was arriving very early, made me coffee, and let me check in once the room was ready. They also clean daily, with coffee and tea available at reception.
