Courtyard Mexico City Airport

The hotel connects to Terminal 1, and United Air check-in is less than a 10 minute walk away, which worked well before our early flight. We were traveling to Mexico City for a special occasion, and the staff made the stay feel thoughtful. Four days beforehand, Ruth Martinez and Jaziz de la Paz from guest services sent a welcome note and asked if we were celebrating anything. After I replied, there was a handwritten note and some unexpected treats in the room. The front desk was also very good. The service before and during our visit matched, or even beat, what I’ve had at many premier Marriott brands. My wife and I would stay here again on a future visit.

The rooms were amazing, the front desk staff were excellent, and the airport location was hard to beat. It can be tricky to find inside the airport, though, so I’d look up directions before flying in. I was there for a couple of business days and ate at the hotel most of the time. The food was bland and mediocre, and the service was questionable. Each bill included a 16 percent tip, but servers handed me the debit machine with the “add tip” option already open. When I asked about the 16 percent, they said, “oh that's for the staff, not for me.” I couldn’t tell whether someone else was keeping the tip or the server was lying, and neither possibility is good. If you need food, there are several nice sandwich places in the airport just outside the hotel.

The carpet was a plus for me, and the room was clean. I like this hotel better than the dated Hilton with its wood floors. But the price feels high for Mexico, and they overcharged me. I went downstairs to explain, and the lady said she would refund me. The fridge kept switching off unless I pushed its button, which is inconvenient at this room rate. The restaurant runs from 5am to 11pm, though with flights checking in around 4 am I think it should be open all night. The bell hop was good and didn’t complain when he seemed to think the tip was too small. My main issue is still the price.

I needed somewhere to stay because my flight wasn’t until 1 AM the next day. Check-in was easy, and the staff were lovely. The room was clean and very quiet, with drapes that made it properly dark, so I managed to get a little sleep before the red-eye. I ate at the restaurant and thought it was good. After checkout, the shuttle took me straight to terminal 2. Very convenient.
