Great location and price, and at least we didn’t find bedbugs. But the sheets and pillowcases had crusty stains, we were charged more for towels than the price listed on the board, and the private rooms had no locks. Edited to add: I wish the owner/operator put half as much effort into running the place as they do writing excuses in response to bad reviews.
I booked online, but when I got there I decided to sleep somewhere else. It felt like walking into my grandparents’ house and being put in the kids’ room. There was no hostel vibe.
I’d stay here again. It’s a cheap place in a great spot, and I was happy hanging out with the owner and the Cuban guy who live there. The location feels safe even after dark, and it’s close to Condesa, Chapultepec, Roma, and Insurgentes, with plenty of green spaces, cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby. Those spots aren’t the cheapest, of course. The metro line around the corner was out of service when I was there, but it should make getting around even easier once it’s running again. If small things bother you or you expect everything to work just so, this place might frustrate you. For me, it was a good-value hideout.
The man at reception was rude and treated people badly. I wouldn’t stay here. His attitude left a poor impression.
I only lasted three nights because the 200 pesos price was so low. The place is small, dark, and has no hostel feel, more like staying at your grandparents’ house. I had no privacy from the woman who took my payment or the older man who lives there, who may be the owner. They came into the women’s dorm without knocking, both during the day and in the evening. The location is good, though.
