Hotel Arizona

The location was very good, with lots of restaurants and other things nearby. Our room was lovely, very clean, and I loved the beautiful view from the windows. There's an elevator and private parking, so we didn't have to worry about the car.

The AC was broken during some of the hottest days of summer. The front desk guy insisted it worked and then lectured me about complaining. After a long, painful argument, he finally let me change rooms, but wouldn’t give me a refund.

The employees were really kind, and the service was wonderful. The rooms, though, are amazingly cramped. For one night it was manageable, but if I’d needed to stay longer, I probably would’ve disliked the place a lot. The prices are okay for the quality, and it feels more like a small hotel.

The front desk lady showed us a “Junior Suite” when we asked for a single room. We didn’t know it was supposed to be special, and it had no extra space or different amenities. The Wi-Fi didn’t even reach it, yet we were charged about double what we would’ve paid otherwise. It felt like a bait-and-switch. The rest of the staff seemed much more trustworthy. The hotel itself is clean and has a funky 70's look. It’s near the metro in the historical district, with lots of rooms overlooking the malecon. That view is great, though it can get noisy. There’s free Wi-Fi and cheap room service. At $240 pesos, roughly $21USD, it’s much nicer than other nearby hotels that cost twice as much, and cheaper than anything Lonely Planet.
