On my first stay, on the third floor, the room was clean, efficient, fairly quiet, and a solid four stars. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, but it was a good experience. This time, on the fourth floor, I'd give it two stars at best. We booked the same kind of room with a kitchenette and sofa, but got an older version. At first it seemed a little bigger and more practical. Then we noticed dried blood on a pillow, a bedroom light that flickered and wouldn't turn on the second night, and a door and thermostat that looked like they'd been through a war. Those things were manageable. What wasn't was the hammering that started around 4-5am Monday through Saturday and went nonstop until at least 11am. We didn't stay in the room later, so it may have continued. The staff are nice but can't do anything. Management seems to hide behind them and doesn't really disclose that renovations are underway. Until they're finished, they should close or lower prices. There are plenty of hotels nearby, and listening to hammering from early morning after a long day is unacceptable.

The worst part was the cleaning. Sometimes they forgot the room altogether, and when they did clean, they might skip vacuuming or the bathroom. They also left cleaning utensils in our bathroom. We stayed at Plaza Revolución and this hotel. This one is well located for the gay district, with a smaller but nice lobby. Its restaurant is nicer, and breakfast included eggs or hot cakes, unlike the other place. Our room was nice but smaller than the one at Plaza, and it had an iron and board, a sink, and a two-burner stove. Ours faced the street, so we heard a lot of noise. The receptionist was a little confused and said we'd booked one room instead of two, but it got sorted.

I stayed at Block Suites for five nights in May, 2026, and wouldn't choose it again on another Mexico City trip. The restaurant was also a letdown. On my first night, the front desk recommended it, so I ordered grilled chicken and fries. The fries were only warm, the chicken was very small and flat, and the service was poor. I was the only person there, yet it took 40 minutes for someone to take my order. They didn't have red wine, so someone was sent out to buy a bottle. I rated the restaurant one star and didn't eat there again. The room problems started that same night. It was pouring rain, and water came in over the top of the large glass window, soaking the drapes and spreading across the floor. I called downstairs and asked someone to bring replacement towels for the ones I'd laid down to soak it up, but nobody came. The next morning I left the housekeeping card out because I needed fresh towels while I was on a tour. No one cleaned the room. After two calls downstairs, someone eventually came to clean and bring towels. The manager then said I needed to move because of the window, so I went four floors down to room 23. The AC and TV there didn't work. After I reported it at the front desk, the manager came up and couldn't get either working. I'd already unpacked, but had to pack again and move to another room. That room was okay, but it had no hand towels or washcloths.

My room had stains on the bed and hairs across the bedding, so I asked right away to switch rooms. They refused, and also wouldn't cancel my reservation or provide an invoice. I left immediately because the room didn't feel clean or acceptable. Be careful when booking this hotel.

The Roma Norte location is convenient, but this stay left me disappointed with the service and condition of the hotel. I stayed four nights, and the room I was checked into at 3 p.m. wasn't ready. It had no toilet paper, towels, or bath mat, and the floor was dusty and dirty. I found small metal pieces on the floor, which made it feel unsafe to walk barefoot. When I raised this politely, the front desk staff member was dismissive and unhelpful. She gave me one roll of toilet paper and said unfriendlily that towels couldn't be provided until the next day because the laundry was closed. Maintenance was poor throughout the room. The lighting was very dim, a bedside LED light didn't work, and the toilet seat was broken. There were visible brownish stains on the bathroom sink and floor, which looked unpleasant and raised cleanliness concerns. The curtain had paint stains, and the kitchenette shown in the listing photos wasn't in the actual room. Soundproofing was minimal, as other reviews have said. Hallway noise, street traffic, and honking carried through the night. Wi-Fi was very slow, often making it hard to use Google Maps or plan my daily routes, which is inconvenient when you rely on a stable connection. A full day before my scheduled checkout, the hotel mistakenly deactivated my key and threw away my toiletries and unopened drinks from the fridge. At first I wasn't upset, since mistakes happen. What bothered me was the response. I later learned the manager already knew, but avoided addressing it when we spoke until I directly asked about the missing items. There was no apology, acknowledgment, or accountability, only a denial that they'd seen my toiletries. The things were worth around $20 USD in total, so the value wasn't the issue. I was surprised by the lack of professionalism and empathy from both management and the front desk. Even for a 3-star hotel, the noise, poor service, misleading room photos, and lack of upkeep fell short of reasonable expectations. Based on my experience, I'd suggest travelers to Mexico City consider other places.
