Hotel Guadalajara

We stayed in two different rooms with friends. The second one had two matrimonial, or full-size, beds, a sink outside the bathroom and a bidet. It was an interior room, much quieter, with the window opening onto the inside of the hotel. I heard people in the hall, but nothing from outside. I only stayed there for one night, and saw several cockroaches in the bathroom, including one crawling on the toilet paper when I pulled some off the roll. The first room had a king bed, was spacious and nice, and faced the street. The bed was comfortable, but it was very loud even with the window shut: cars, trucks and motorcycles, lots of police sirens, a market vendor's music starting at 6:30 in the morning, people yelling all night, and sanitation workers scraping trash off the concrete with what sounded like a metal shovel. On the plus side, it was good for people-watching and letting cool air in. The room hadn't been cleaned well before our stay, with hair on the floor and in the shower. I saw a couple of little cockroaches during our three nights there. It's close to Garibaldi Plaza, with a big market across the street and stalls along the sidewalks in front. The Metro entrance is right outside, but Tepito is right there too. It's not the greatest hotel, but for $700 a night, you can't really beat it.
