Hotel Lord - Adults Only

The room had plenty of space, but there wasn’t anywhere beyond a small table to store clothes. It had a bed, TV, and a fairly nice bathroom. The sheets had odd yellow stains, and the walls were stained too. I don’t think this place deserves its four stars, and the neighborhood isn’t one of the city’s best.

The hotel’s location worked well for visiting my friend, and I was glad I chose it. I booked a standard room for four nights without expecting much, then was pleasantly surprised. It was spacious, full of light, and spotless. Large windows had blackout shades that blocked almost all the light, even around midday. The bathroom was very clean, and the big shower had some of the best hot water and pressure I’ve had at a hotel. The lobby felt a bit dark and forbidding at first, though there’s a pleasant seating area and a small restaurant/bar that keeps long hours every day. Doctores has a lot of traffic in daytime, but it was quiet at night even with the window open. There’s no heating or air-conditioning in the room, but Mexico City is generally mild. Nearby you’ll find a couple of taquerías and Oxxo locations; otherwise, there isn’t much open at night in the neighborhood. Transit is convenient. The Trolebús line 1 stops two blocks away and goes straight to the North bus terminal. Metro line 8 at Doctores and line 3 at Niños Heroes are also within a few blocks. A few more blocks past Niños Heroes, Metrobús line 3 stops at Jardín Pushkin, the “official” start of Roma Norte. WiFi was the big drawback. I couldn’t stay connected for more than 20 seconds before having to reconnect, and sometimes reboot my device. If you need fast internet in CDMX, you’d have to go elsewhere, with Roma Norte the closest area for reliable WiFi. I’d still stay here again. It’s a great value.

The sheets had cigarette burns, the area outside the motel didn’t feel secure, and the elevator got stuck while making weird noises. Staff, including the clerk, didn’t seem happy or welcoming, and noise kept me from sleeping well at night because the washing machines ran all night. On the positive side, the place smelled and felt clean, the bathroom was clean and pretty, and the amenities were good.

The room was clean, and there’s a small park right by this convenient location. The café on the ground floor deserves a mention for its tasty food and generous portions. Wi-Fi was weak, though I could watch a movie if I paused it.
