Hotel Menara

I booked at the last minute and found the place decent overall. It's a little dated, but clean, which wasn't a big deal. The water was only warm, never hot. There are good, cheap tacos across the road, other nice restaurants around the block, and the metro is close by too.

I got food poisoning on my first night, from somewhere else, so having such a clean, comfortable room was about the best I could ask for. It's also fairly close to Centro Historico. My room was large and quiet at the end of a hallway. It was cleaned daily, including the bathroom, sheets, and towels. The blackout curtains blocked the outside light, and the employees were friendly. I felt safe there. I arrived at 11:30 am intending only to leave my bag, but they gave me a room because one was available. For the price, it's hard to find a better room.

The staff were lovely, and the price was very affordable. It has what you need, without fuss or frills.

I'm staying here right now, and despite some negative reviews, I think it's a very good hotel for a reasonable price. The reception staff are friendly. It's an older three-story building, but I find it adequate for the cost. I asked for a room on the south side. The faucet isn't great, though water does start flowing after a short wait. The shower pressure is strong. The subway station is a three-minute walk away, and there are plenty of shops nearby.
