Maison du comte

We loved our week at maison du comte and would absolutely stay again. The owner, Guy, has made his beautiful home into a boutique bed and breakfast on a lush, quiet street in Roma, a perfect base for a CDMX trip. Maye, the house manager, and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable and at home. They shared great local tips and recommendations, and let us in and out of the property so we felt safe and cared for. Maye was especially welcoming and such a sweet hostess. Each morning started with yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, croissants, and an entrée made to order. We chatted with the other guests over breakfast, or sometimes ate on the beautiful patio. We were in the red room on the first floor. It was incredibly comfortable, and the staff kept it impeccably clean each day, even folding our clothes and tidying up. It was so nice coming back to a clean room.

The block is quiet, and the location is hard to beat. Our room was roomy and comfortable, and it was thoroughly cleaned every day. The staff were friendly and attentive, with great tips on what to do and see. They seemed to care about making the whole trip a good one, not just the hotel part. Just what you want from a BnB in Mexico City.

The location puts you in Roma Norte, near museums, Condesa shopping and parks, and loads of boutiques and restaurants. The area is walkable, eclectic, and lively. Behind the gate, the property feels peaceful in the middle of the city, with a thoughtful mix of classic and contemporary architecture. Our room had its own entrance from the main house, and it was always lovely to come down the stairs and cross the courtyard to greet Maye, Oscar, Fernando, and the rest of the delightful staff. We woke to Incan doves each morning and had lovely breakfasts with croissants, eggs, and phenomenal fresh fruit. They would have provided more options, but we're usually just coffee-for-breakfast people. Maye and the staff were graciousness personified, offering neighborhood guides and tips on what not to eat or do, and caring for us throughout the visit in a way we simply haven’t experienced elsewhere. Our room had endlessly refilled potable water and a Nespresso machine. We visited in January and wished we’d spent more time in the courtyard under the twinkling lights. A trip highlight was getting daily greetings from Karamelo, the most adorable dog I know. You can sleep anywhere, but here they really make you feel like a treasured guest. We were enchanted by this boutique hotel and its memorable owner and staff.

For our first Mexico City visit, this was such a special place to stay. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and I highly recommend making friends with Karamelo. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the chilaquiles, which I’ve been craving ever since I left. The rooms were peaceful and quiet even though we were right in the middle of the city.
