The owner was very nice, and the staff were the most incredible people. One of them walked with me to get smokes and beer, then even walked back with me. They helped turn a horrible night, after my heart was broken there, into something easier to handle. I can’t thank them enough. The place is incredibly beautiful, and the pictures don’t do it justice. I rented the room with the pool, and it was worth every penny. The service was the best, and I’d love to return.

We went to the New Year’s Eve show, and it was impeccably done. They really know how to put on an event. The staff were so friendly and welcoming that we felt comfortable right away. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, too. It’s a quiet, secluded place for couples, with easy access to the city from a great location. Highly recommended!

The lovely greens and the tent, which went up impressively fast, were small bright spots in a stay that was supposed to be restful. This feels like an event venue where people sometimes sleep, not a hotel. We arrived after an early flight from Oaxaca, having traveled for over a week. Leaving our bags and checking in went routinely, but the rest of the stay was abysmal. Staff told us, laughing, that there would be “many parties” that weekend. We’d been awake since 5AM and hoped to nap around 4pm, but workers were hammering and drilling while setting up an outside tent. It started again around 8:30AM the next morning. The night before, salsa music blasted across the back greens until 10:30pm, then ballads took over. At 11PM I finally asked staff to turn it off. Everyone seemed surprised, even though there were no event guests left and the music was still blaring across an empty yard. The WiFi didn’t work. Weather problems forced us to reschedule our flight home, which was stressful, and we had to use reception WiFi from a waiting room. Then we were kicked out because of another private event. Hotel guests had no common space that wasn’t taken over by events. To reach the exit gate for dinner, we also had to walk straight through a private event, across a red carpet full of women in evening gowns. That fast tent setup was less impressive when we were trying to rest. Our room was quaint, with some nice antique touches, but other parts were dusty and unpleasant. The bed was especially lumpy. The bathroom smelled of sewage, and the shower felt like a dark, moldy cave with a broken light. We had two shower towels, one tiny face towel, no hand towels, and at least a bath mat. There were no robes, 24-hour service, front desk, or concierge. I had to wander the halls and flag down an event photographer, who called a venue staff member on their cell phone to get the music stopped. When our flight delay came up, we initially considered extending our stay. It quickly became clear that wouldn’t work. With all the commotion and staff tied up with endless private events, we didn’t feel comfortable in any common area. If events like these are happening, they should require a full buyout instead of having other guests there. This isn’t in the range of a three- or four-star hotel. We checked out early and went back to Roma by car to stay elsewhere. I’d urge future guests to do the same, or at least ask whether private events are scheduled during their stay.

Enrique and Patricio helped bring my partner’s dream proposal to life at Mansión de Papilio. They were responsive and attentive as I planned everything, from the design to a private dinner and live pianist. On the day, the service was exceptional, and I could focus on being with my partner instead of worrying about details. I highly recommend Mansión de Papilio for a proposal in Mexico City. Also, a huge shoutout to @photos_by_katie, who captured the moment beautifully. I highly recommend her too.

My fiancée and I had a very unfortunate stay. This is mostly an event venue with a few rooms, and hotel guests get disrupted by setup and event music while staff focus on the private events. Service was completely lacking. The bathroom smelled of sewage, the WiFi barely worked, and staff did nothing to address the clearly bad experience we were having. I’d strongly suggest staying somewhere else.
