The service was very good. The staff were polite, kind, and resourceful. The rooms are fair for a quick visit, just somewhere to shower, leave your belongings, and rest for a bit. Mexico City is lively and doesn’t sleep, so expect noise and you’ll be fine. You’ll survive.

The windows look like they date from the 1950s, and there's no insulation or air conditioning. My sheets had holes, and the furniture was chipped. This place is falling apart. I can't understand anyone giving it more than one star.

The rooms are large, the service is good, and the location is great for a safe stay in a good area. The building is old and could use updating. Also, some new pillows would be appreciated.

We walked from the hotel to El Zocalo, then Bellas Artes and El Angel de la Independencia, and made our way back. It felt safe to get around on foot. The staff were professional, and their restaurant recommendations were right on target.

The location made this a useful base: Revolution Square is about 50 meters away, and Paseo de la Reforma is roughly 100 meters away. We could walk to the Revolution Monument, Angel of Independence, Diana the Huntress Fountain, and the Palace of Fine Arts. Metrobuses, trolleybuses, and tour buses stop nearby, along with Starbucks cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, banks, and Reforma 222. For a week in late July 2023, it was a convenient and safe place to sleep and keep our things, especially at a cheap price. Comfort was more basic than luxurious. The room had the essentials and was maintained adequately, but morning construction noise disturbed us. Some TV channels had heavy interference or didn't work. Wi-Fi was another problem. Our first room only got 1-2 Mbps, so we asked to move because we needed it for work. The new room was opposite the router, but speeds were still unstable, usually around 5 Mbps and rarely above 10. The lobby sometimes reached 20 Mbps, though it was noisy there. A receptionist told us the complimentary Wi-Fi was meant for phones, not work, which didn't help since local internet on our phones was problematic. We ended up using mobile data or going to the nearest Starbucks. Our key cards stopped working after every cleaning, so we had to return to reception to have them reset. Staff asked for the room number and fixed them, but didn't apologize. Reception made a poor impression overall: they weren't very courteous or helpful, had limited English, and explained away the Wi-Fi issue as normal. The luggage porters, cleaners, and restaurant waiters, on the other hand, were consistently friendly, polite, and welcoming. Meals weren't included in our rate. We tried the combo lunch once for $120 MXN per person. It came with soup and a main dish, plus orange juice and dessert. Palace Hotel worked as a functional base thanks to its location, but the unreliable Wi-Fi, repeated card trouble, and some reception interactions took away from the stay.
