The made-to-order breakfast was excellent and filling, a real highlight. The neighborhood is very quiet and feels extremely safe, with plenty of nearby food and coffee choices. It's close enough to the busier areas, and I'd recommend using the Ecobici bike rental system. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious enough and the beds comfortable enough for the price, though neither was outstanding. The shower was frustrating: it took about five minutes for hot water to arrive, then it got boiling, with little ability to find a warm setting between cold and too hot.

We left late at night, disgusted by both the room and the way the hotel handled things. After we said we couldn't stay, they spent three hours acting as if they were working on a solution, then lied about giving us a full refund. We were exhausted and hungry when we first found the mess, so we went out for food and to regroup before addressing it again. The toilet handle had human feces smeared on it. Housekeeping came, and the cleaner used one washcloth on the sink, toilet, and floor. The room was freezing, with no way to adjust the temperature and no heating or cooling. Bare floors made it feel even colder. The shower had almost no pressure and swung between scalding and freezing. Our stay was a full nightmare. If I could give zero stars, I would. Avoid this place.

The reception staff didn't speak any English, and after three hours of discussions they said they'd give us a full refund because we wanted to move hotels. We later learned they had refused it, keeping the money for the whole week's reservation even though we checked out the same day. Very dishonest, and the worst hotel experience of my life. We'd been looking forward to staying because of the positive reviews, but neither the hotel nor our room looked like the photos. The bathroom was filthy, with human feces smeared on the toilet handle. The room was freezing with no temperature control, and the shower barely worked. Don't stay here.

The staff were wonderful, and the made-to-order breakfast in the courtyard was a nice surprise. Condessa was a great location, with restaurants and shops in every direction. I landed in town on standby and nervously had to find a hotel for the weekend, my first time in CDMX. What a find. The room felt like the Four Seasons after a night near the airport, as good as or maybe better than a mid-tier US hotel.
