Hotel J&E by Serranillo

The location is convenient, right beside a very good restaurant, and I felt safe sleeping there. But the room was filthy. There was other guests' blood on the bedspread, and I was disgusted to lie on the bed. The sheets were torn, the mattress topper felt almost plastic and was very uncomfortable, and the curtains and headboard were damp. There was no heating. At the restaurant, they mentioned we could borrow a heater, but nobody had offered that before. When I complained about the dirty blankets, they said that was just how they were and that each bed only had one. The toilet seat was also loose from the floor.

Everything else was fine in the end: the water was very hot, the bathrooms were spacious and well equipped, and there was a coffee maker in the room. The hotel itself was nice and clean, close to the Dolores mine and the historic center, where there are several places to buy pasties. My stay was uncomfortable because a ceiling light in my second-floor room kept flickering like a strobe, so I had to use the bedside lamp. I told the receptionist on duty, who reluctantly said someone would fix it the next day. They didn't.

I could park outside without any trouble, and the rooms were clean. Still, the room was right by the elevator, so it got very noisy early in the morning. Bring earplugs. The mattress also felt a bit too hard for me, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars.

The staff were very attentive, and the room was really nice. We came for the opening of the National Magical Towns Fair, and staying here worked out perfectly since it wasn't possible to drive farther into the center. The hotel has no parking lot of its own, but you can leave the car outside or use a nearby lot. It's right at the edge of what you might call the city center.
