Xochipilli and several restaurants are close enough to walk to, and you can get around to just about anywhere on foot from this charming hotel. It has a lot going for it, especially the location and cute feel. It could use a deep clean, as others have said. I kept in mind that water is scarce in this part of the country, and our towels and sheets were fresh and clean. We were mostly there to sleep. In my experience, local hotels tend to be strong on service and location, and this one was too.

The room was clean and the AC got really cold, though the mattresses could use replacing. Each room has its own theme, giving the place a colonial feel that makes you feel like you've stepped through time. The hotel is in a great spot, with the church from the colonial period across the street and plenty of shops in the historic district downtown. There’s also an indoor restaurant, La Parroquia. The food was great and the antique atmosphere was lovely, but service was slow with just one server working.

We picked this hotel because it was convenient for shopping nearby. The beds were so hard I couldn't sleep, and I had to ask for pillows. If we hadn't already reserved, we would've moved to a better hotel with softer beds. I'd rather have a soft bed and a good night's rest.

The AC worked great and everything else was working too. I had a great stay. Daniel, the manager, was professional, caring, and very friendly. I'd definitely recommend Olimpia.
