Adhoc Boutique Barrio Antiguo

I slept well despite the tiny room, especially around the narrow stairs and bathroom, and the price was low enough that I didn't expect much. The location was a real plus, just one block from the Santa Lucía Riverwalk. The service and linen cleanliness need work, though. My Expedia reservation offered breakfast for an extra fee, but when we went downstairs, they said there was no breakfast. Later they messaged that it was included at another location, but that place was closed on weekends, so it didn't work for us. The shower stayed clogged through all three nights even though I reported it several times, and no one brought the toilet paper I asked for.

The location is the one bright spot, right by the Santa Lucía River and near the Barrio Antiguo (Old Quarter). It didn't come close to making up for the price or the stay. Our first room was full of mold, smelled unbearable, and had yellowed sheets. When we asked for a refund so we could leave, they told us we should have checked the rooms more carefully, which put the blame on us for a problem the hotel should handle. After we pushed, they moved us. That room had dampness on the ceiling, broken AC, no towels or hangers, and cleaning cost extra. The pool was dirty, doors wouldn't close, and everything felt neglected. It needs maintenance, or possibly to close. Calling this a boutique hotel seems to exist only in the owner's imagination. If you're after a boutique hotel, keep looking. If you want to overpay and be disappointed, this place is perfect.

The only good thing was the location. The internet was out the whole time, and no one could get it working. The beds sagged in the middle and creaked badly even with the slightest movement. Shelves looked ready to fall, the room smelled damp, and it didn't seem clean. The pool was very dirty too.

The location is a shame, since the service, cleanliness, and rooms leave a lot to be desired. There were no hand towels, the towels were poor quality, cleaning was only half done, and the pool and terrace were dirty. When you complain, all you get are excuses. They advertise as a boutique hotel but it's really an Airbnb. Think carefully before booking, because afterwards there's no way to ask for a refund.
