Hilton Monterrey Valle

The location worked well for us. The nearby mall is an easy walk, with shops and a grocery store where we picked up wine, snacks, and basics. There's also a small plaza northwest of the hotel with a really good taco spot, an OXXO, pharmacy, Starbucks, and a brunch place. Bars aren't within walking distance, but San Pedro is a quick Uber ride away. We spent time in the huge, open lobby, which feels put together without being stuffy. Harth and the bar are there, too, so it was a nice place to work on my laptop, wait before going out, or grab a drink. We had lunch at Harth one afternoon. The restaurant was empty, but service felt slow. The food was very good, though. The rooms were spacious, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, with a TV, mini fridge, plenty of counter space, and enough closet room for a longer stay. The beds are on the firm side but comfortable. My main complaints were pillows that were much too thin and soft, and hot water that stayed lukewarm on a few days. Those things weren't enough to ruin the stay. Wander, on the 6th floor, has the pool, lounge, and bar, all nicely designed with a great city view. The pool is small but heated, so it's a relaxing spot even if you don't swim. There are restrooms and complimentary towels up there. The gym was probably the nicest and best-equipped hotel gym I've seen. It's spacious and modern, with enough equipment for a real workout, not just a treadmill and a couple of dumbbells. Everything looked intentional, clean, and well maintained. Most of the negative reviews we saw seemed to be from Hilton Honors or status members unhappy about perks, upgrades, or recognition. I can't speak to that since it didn't apply to us, but it came off more like people being dramatic than an actual problem with the hotel. For a modern, comfortable, clean stay in MTY, Hilton Valle was a solid choice. Minor issues aside, it delivered on comfort, design, and convenience. We'll definitely stay here again on future trips to Monterrey.

The lack of a refrigerator in our room led to a heartbreaking situation. My wife works very hard to pump breast milk for our daughter, and we had no way to keep it cold during those first hours. After just six hours, we had to throw away 16 ounces of milk, which is extremely difficult to replace. I had to call the front desk to request a refrigerator or minibar, something I've never had to do at any Hilton before. I've stayed at over 100 Hilton properties across the United States and have never run into an issue like this. The hotel is elegant and visually impressive, but as a Hilton Diamond member, I never expected this. Knowing how much time and effort goes into pumping milk, I found the situation completely unacceptable. I sincerely hope the hotel takes this seriously so no other family has to go through the same experience. I'm extremely disappointed with my recent stay.

The room itself was clean and a good stay once you get past customer service, and the breakfast staff were nice. But I've had horrible experiences here repeatedly. They change prices after they have your credit card, and show zero care for the customer experience. The front desk problems bring it below one star. This is the second time I've regretted staying here.

I booked through Amex travel as a gold member, which I thought gave me a double chance of getting upgraded, but I was given a basic room. Check-in was mediocre, too. They said I could check in early at 12pm, but when I arrived at 2, I was told it was "upon availability," the standard excuse for not upgrading you. Honestly, this has been the saddest Hilton experience.
