Hotel Fundador

We had two rooms for our group of 11. One was fine, but the other had an air conditioner that never worked, and nobody did anything to fix it. The front desk girl kept giving us looks and had an attitude. We stayed because it was late and we didn't feel safe in that area if we left. The night was a pretty poor experience. I'd strongly suggest finding another hotel.

The location is the main thing here, close to everything and very reasonably priced. If you need your own place for a few days, or somewhere to sleep after arriving in Monterrey, it works well and is worth considering. It's not a place for pampering or anything brilliant, but if that's all you're after, this place is fine.

Set in the old town, this historic hotel has a certain charm. We were moved from a small, disappointing room to a lovely large one, and the staff were very pleasant. I'd recommend it, though I'd check the room before settling in.

It's cheap, which is about the only good thing. The place feels like a labyrinth, and there's also a strange rule that you have to leave your room key at reception whenever you go out. Not great overall.
