I went to look at one of the rooms. The receptionist was rude, the maintenance man who showed me the room was rude, and the maid at the front desk was horrible. The room was dimly lit, as if they were hiding how dirty it was, and there was no hot water. The booking was nonrefundable, too. Stay at your own risk.

The front desk was very attentive. One night we asked for a few extra towels because we were staying five nights, and by the time we got upstairs, someone was already waiting at our door with them. The lobby restaurant is more like a kitchen open during the day. You can take the food or eat at the lobby tables. It was very good, authentic Mexican food, handy when we wanted to eat in, and if there was a wait they offered to bring it to our room. My husband and I were mostly out exploring, so the stay worked well for us. The pictures are accurate, the room was very clean, and it had lots of lighting choices, including blue or dim ambience. We had a King and jet tub, and the shower was just as huge. The only downside was the few blocks around the hotel, though that’s common here. You can be by the American Embassy and walk a few blocks to somewhere that feels like a completely different city. I’ll say this as discreetly as I can: there’s an adult vibe, so it’s probably best suited to couples or singles. Some people may be looking for that, but families with children should know. I still gave it five stars because my own naivety may have kept me from noticing the clues, and we embraced the unexpected, laughed, and went with it. Overall, good for us. I don’t recommend it for families or people traveling with children, though not for safety reasons. Traveling always carries some risk, and downtown areas in Mexico can have elevated risks, so diligence is needed at all times.

The staff behaved horribly. They wouldn’t let us have the room three minutes before 3pm unless we paid 435 pesos. The lobby and rooms were filthy and stank, and there were bedbugs in the beds and pillows.

For what I paid, about $43 a night all in through hotels.com, or 8600 pesos I think, it was a good deal. The place looks great, and I loved the blue light under the bed. My mom joined at the last minute, so instead of paying an extra $7 American to upgrade, we shared the huge king bed. The mattress was so hard, though. The bathroom was nice, and the heater worked, but there was no window and the Wi-Fi didn’t work. It’s dim inside, and I hate that there’s no bedside light. They have room service but no free breakfast. The soup was salty, haha. If the Wi-Fi worked, I’d give it a 5.

Everything felt perfect, especially how clean it all was, which matters most to me in a hotel. The room was spacious, modernly upgraded, and had hot water for showers. I came from the US for a quick visit, and this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. I’d definitely recommend it and book again.
