MBM Red Sun

The room was a good size and the location was convenient. Beds were comfortable, and the parking area is supervised and closed at night. There was no microwave, fridge, or coffee maker. Cleanliness needs work: I found hair on the shower and bathroom floors, one towel had a big hole in it, and the other had a hair.

It’s laid out more like a motel, with the rooms around a parking lot, but the room itself was really comfortable. The parking security was excellent. Guards were still checking cars after midnight when we went to bed, and only hotel guests can enter the lot. That setup is reassuring if you’re traveling with lots of luggage or valuables in your car.

The breakfast was better than what I’ve had at some high-end hotels, and parking felt very safe. Rooms are spacious and very clean, with a nice-looking marble bathroom. A good place to stay, and there’s a metro station nearby.

The service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. We came for a sporting event, and the hotel offered no workable solution when the athletes had to compete late because of the weather. They expected us to hand over the rooms and then continue competing. We even offered to pay for a later checkout, but four extra hours cost 700 pesos, almost the price of a whole night. They also refused to let us book an extra night so we could leave later, despite the competition filling nearly the whole hotel. The reservation process was already a problem, and the website is full of lies. It says they accept all cards, but when we tried to pay, they said they wouldn’t take American Express, even though the site says they do. They wouldn’t take Visa either. They only accept reservations by bank transfer, with no guarantee. It’s also impossible to reach anyone in charge by phone. You only get the reception staff, who had a terrible attitude and were rude. It’s a shame this happened with my fellow countrymen. They can’t offer solutions and are completely closed off. We’d never recommend this hotel unless you want a bad time. Next time you travel, don’t go near MBM RED SUN. It’s awful.
